Rick Bryant and The Jive Bombers released the album, TIME on Red Rocks Records, a small independent Wellington label distributed by Bernie Griffin's Global Routes Music. {fx 093070493}

"Time" was recorded over fifteen months in a rehearsal room above a bookshop onto old fashioned analogue tape, using the warm sounds of valve pre-amps on virtually every track. Unlike the mainly live Bombers album of 1984, "Time" has only one cover, "Everybody Needs Love," by the late Eddie Hinton, the (white) Memphis singer/songwriter who sometimes sounds more like Otis Redding than Redding himself.

Three songs, "Morning," "Shame" and "Powerhouse" are from a cluster written by Bryant and the producer/engineer/motivator of the project, John Kempt. Guitarist Cadzow Cossar contributed "How Can I Be Sure."

"Hot and Bothered" is by Bryant and long-term member Wayne Baird. The title track is by Bryant and Peter Bayliss, another fine Auckland guitarist who has played in the band at times over the years, as has Ali MacDougal, originally from Dunedin, who co-wrote "Rhyme or Reason" and other songs in the Jive Bombers' repertoire.
