& The Jive Bombers

R & B

Good-time rocking dance music has been Rick Bryant's trademark throughout a thirty year career as New Zealand's leading blues singer.

His eleven-piece soul band, The Jive Bombers formed in 1982 to play soul classics but evolved into Bryant's writing vehicle in recent years. He is known for his faithful interpretation of classic songs like "Knock on Wood," "Give Me Some Kind of Sign," and "Take Me to the River," and others by the greats, such as Aretha Franklin, James Brown, Ray Charles and Otis Redding.

But that is less than half the story. Nowadays the Bombers play their own songs with only a scattering of covers, unless it's a period-themed occasion.
