The blues are alive and well in Timaru. Old mates catch up at The Royal Hotel in Timaru. The Blueshounz.

There is a Blueshounz gig every Sunday night at the Royal Hotel in Timaru.

The band plays "roots blues" with songs from BB King, Eric Clapton, John Mayall and many other artists, but done the Blueshounz way. Some original material is starting to be incorporated into the play list. The band in this form has been together about a month although as "Blues Power" started about 4 months earlier. Even though the band is new it is made up of some very experienced musicians.

Moz on guitar and vocals, had spent much of his life in Australia playing many big clubs and venues including the Sydney Opera House in the first band to ever play in the Bennelong Restaurant, returning to his hometown and pursuing his passion to play the blues.

Pete on bass, also spent a lot of years overseas playing in big bands, rock and fusion in New York,Amsterdam,Paris and in Australia.

Justin is the baby in the band on drums, and was rescued from heavy metal type bands to get down and learn a whole new world of music.

Pat plays harmonica, and was also in Australia playing blues and is a recent addition to the Blueshounz line up.The band recorded a live CD as a demo for work purposes and proved to be very popular as it depicts accurately a slice of a blues pub gig.

The CD was recorded under the Blues Power banner as a 3 piece band with a different drummer
